Nimo Ahmed of Traditional Corsairs reports:
On the evening of the historical warmest Summer's day in a July in the UK,
Corsairs skipper, Nimo Ahmed, continued his 100% record of losing the toss!
Good Mayes did not hesitate to choose to bat.Good Mayes set about some awry
Corsairs bowling in style, batting around a classy knock from Umar who
retired on 50 and came back to haunt the Corsairs' bowling, finally
finishing on 80 not out.
Fazal topped the Corsairs' bowling to finish with 3-31.
The Corsairs recomposed themselves and the openers got off to the perfect
start with both numbers one and two (Vaseem and Aftab) retiring on 50 and in
so doing bringing the required run rate down from 10 an over to 8.
Aftab was particularly savage on the bowlers and hit two huge sixes.
Fazal joined Vaseem at the wicket with 60 odd runs needed and wasted no time
in getting amongst the runs - in one brutal over Fazal hit 3 x 6s and 3 x
4s!
The game was all but finished in the 12th over with Corsairs on 152-0,
when Rizwan came on to to take 3 wickets for 2 runs in his first over.
It then required a calm Ajaz to hit a six and with it the winning runs. |
