Cup semi-final:
Goodmayes v Caledonian Conquerors
|
Thursday 24 July 2008, Victoria Park |
Goodmayes beat Caledonian Conquerors by 109 runs
Goodmayes: 223 for 4 in 16 overs
Caledonian Conquerors: 114 for 6 in 12.4 overs
The much anticipated all premier league Semi Final Clash became a One
sided affair, with Goodmayes putting Cally's to the mother of all tests !!
Goodmayes batted first and went about business in thier usual fashion of
dispatching everything into orbit. The closure of the Blackwall Tunnel meant
Cally's took to the field without their skipper & fielded with 7 players for
the majority of the Goodmayes innings. Goodmayes exploited the extra space
and a jaded Cally's outfit were set a mammoth 224 runs to win off 16 overs.
Chasing down at a rate of 14 an over was always gonna be a big ask, However
Cally's did themselves proud by some attractive attacking shots and a good
approach to thier innings. Cally's can go and lick thier wounds and play now
for a decent league position.
