Island won the toss, elected to bat and came out swinging. The Wrong'uns
normally tight bowling was dispatched to all parts of the ground with
certain amount of luck and sometimes considerable skill.
The much needed breakthrough came with the Wrong 'uns first bowling "Jono"
making his first team debut, bowling a lively seam and sharp a line started
to make inroads into the Island batting order. After a two dropped catches
off the first two balls he finally got the dangerman Dammika with his third
delivery caught at slip.
Island although losing wickets at regular intervals kept up the constant
onslaught of the Wrong'uns bowling right into the final over.
Chasing 176 to win, the Wrong'uns opening pair of Paddy and Ames got off to
a good start. Hitting the boundary on numerous occasions all the time being
told that they "only had one shot" between them by Island's chirping keeper.
As the game progressed astute tactical judgement by the Island skipper saw
his men take up fielding positions on the boundary. The wickets fell as the
Wrong'uns battled with the run rate and eventually Island community won the
game.
Full credit and good luck to Island for their future games. As for the
Wrong'uns they head into the 2nd division optimistic of a winning
campaign!!!!
