On an important day for VPCCL league when pitch 1,2 and 3 saw the clashes
between the top division 1 teams ELCCC captain won the toss and elected to
bat first. The match took place on pitch which is famous for high scores
because of small boundries all around.
In the absence of regular opener Shakeel, captain mohit promoted himself to
come with boom boom Altaf but unfortunately got out cheaply on an excellent
out swinger by Richard in 2nd over. Altaf opened the batting and like always
started the innings with 3 boundries in a row of first over of match.
Again boom boom Altaf proved himself to be the best opener in the league by
hitting another quickfire not out 50 making a tally of 6 fifties so far in
the season.
Syed got out cheaply as well and after Altaf retired on 50 n/o debutant
Ibrahim and Yasir (the ferrari) took the creaze and both scored unbeaten
fifties. They both scores 51 each before retiring. Umar scored 6 runs before
getting stumped out trying to score as many as possible in the last overs.
Waheed scored 22 n/o on 7 balls to give finishing touches and unfortunate
Iqbal stood at the creaze without facing a single ball seeing waheed hitting
consective boundries in last over.
With 3 unbeaten fifties and waheed cameo ELCCC was able to put on a mammoth
total of 213. Although cally's bowlers were very disciplined and only gave a
total 6 extras in the whole innings but it was the deep and strong batting
lineup of ELCCC which enabled them to continue hitting.
Cally did not have a great strat when they came to bat as their star batsman
fazal got out on the second ball to an excellent catch taken by yasir on
deep square leg boundary.
The ball was flying for a flat six but was not
high enough to cross the bucket hands of Yasir. Wickets kept coming at
regualr intervals and waheed in his second over took an excellent return
catch on his follow through. Iqbal bowled 2 excellent overs but his 3 over
was hammered by nad and when Altaf came as a first change bowler after his
batting heroics he took 3 wickets in 2 overs and killed all cally's hopes.
Saj (31n/o) and khurran (41 n/o) did not give any further wickets away but
they needed 75 runs in last over to win and Ibrahim finished the last over
by giving only a few runs away.
A superb game played faily and enjoyed by both teams. Good luck to both
teams for coming games.
