Rose and Crown batted first in their opening match in the top division,
however they were soon in trouble as their first three wickets were lost
with only 16 runs scored.
They then showed great character with a fourth wicket stand of 105 with
Kranthi blasting 57 not out with the experienced and stubborn batting of
Sean Feeney who finished 39 not out. With a slow outfield the total was
challenging but still shy of ten or twenty runs.
The Cally's never really conquered but managed to seal victory in the last
over.

Rose and Crown's consistent performances over the last few seasons
have rewarded them with an opportunity to test thier skills in the top
division of the VPCCL. An opening fixture against Cally's was played in good
spirits and as always fought hard.
Rose and Crown made an impressive 135 in their 16 overs, When Shahid took 2
wickets in 2 balls Rose and Crown looked like they wanted an early
drink-Being 4 down for under 50 - inside the first 6 overs. However Sean and
Karanti had other ideas bringing Rose and Crown to a respectable total of
135.
Nadeem and Malik gave Callys a solid start although the run rate never
really climbed above 9 in the first 8 overs . With 54 required off the last
6 overs Callys looked like they were about to implode. A below par Cally's
performanace saw a potential banana skin averted as Fazal smash and grabbed
24 in the 12th over to see Cally's over the line.
A good game of cricket enjoyed by both sides.
