On another wet evening both East 8 and Mad Moroccas arrived with
determination to have a good game of cricket. The captains decided to flip
the coin in the rain and agreed to play a reduced 14 over game to get a
result. East 8 won the toss and decided to bat first.
Both teams prepared and as soon as there was an opening in the weather both
teams began the game. Mad Moroccas struck early with Mungo bowling to Babs
who gave a catch on the off side.
Mad Moroccas gave a lot of wide balls to the next pair due to the left and
right batting combination of Kash and Abby. An unexpected on line deliver
surprised Abby when he was bowled and had to walk back.
Kash kept his composure and batted well with Irfan joining him briefly. Kash
finally walked back at 21 runs. Ali and Suf batted very well and put
together a fantastic well needed partnership where Suf supported Ali by
hitting 16 runs and Ali remained unbeaten on 30 runs.
East 8 finished their innings setting a target of 111 for the Mad Moroccas.
Kash and Nas opened bowling and kept it tight but the openers slowly but
surely scored decent runs to keep the pressure on. Jim was sent back by Ali
s fantastic caught and bowled. Dom put together a very good innings but Nas
joined Ali in the caught and bowled trend.
Mad Moroccas kept a steady run rate on target to be victorious. Some
economical overs from Ali and Abby put further pressure on and further
wickets fell. It came to the last over when Mad Moroccas required 13 runs.
Abby kept it very tight and even bowled a fantastic Yorker that rattled Sam
s stumps back and forth. Mad Moroccas finished their innings 5 runs short of
victory.
An excellent game played in good spirits and it was a fun yet a close and
exciting finish. A much needed victory for East 8 CC and we bag the 2
points.
Good luck to Mad Moroccas with their last league game. Well done East 8 CC
on the money boys!
