Tawheed began their 2013 campaign with a comfortable victory over last
season's Division 3 Champions Victoria Lounge.
The Vic Loungers started brightly with some tight bowling being rewarded
with the wickets of both openers being caught cheaply, trying to hit over
the top.
This brought debutante Sheikh to the crease and who started quietly and then
accelerated quickly to his 50 by the 12th over. He was assisted by Kashif
Malik, also looking like he has hit some early season form.
With an above par 132 to chase The loungers started steadily against
Tawheed's opening bowlers (Both making their debuts) but they had to settle
for the singles and doubles against some accurate and hostile opening
bowling.
Mo Temmur Struck twice in 2 overs to remove both openers. Victoria Lounge
rallyed briefly, but with wickets falling at regular intervals the run rate
climbed.
The Victoria Lounge Stand in Skipper (Jo Cannon) however had other ideas
with some clean hitting and punishment of the Tawheed slow attack.
It took some Top fielding - catching and a fantastic last wicket run out by
Mohammed Ali to close the Vic Loungers innings for 75 all out. The match was
played in good spirits by both teams.
Good Luck for the rest of the season to the Victoria Loungers.
