The league kicked off for Junoon CC with a qualifying fixture against
seasoned opponents Wrong Uns.
A nice friendly relaxed atmosphere was evident as both teams knew each other
from previous meetings, friendly and competitive. JCC won the toss and
elected to bat first.
A slow start in batting was created by good line and length bowling. Soon
enough, wickets started to fall, like leaves off a tree in the season of
Autumn....
3 wickets in a short spell gave WU the confidence to bowl JCC out for a low
score, but JCC batsman Waleed had othe ideas. He made his steady 50*,
retired, and Nomaan Shah came in at no.5 to cause some more damage, which he
did.
A quick 35 from Nomaan and JCC finally finished on 107, a below par total
but definitely a game on.
JCC started their bowling attack with skipper Firoz bowling supreme line and
length at one end, and Nomaan bowling with aggression and pace at the other.
Whilst the skipper kept the runs at bay, Nomaan began his destruction of the
stumps, by taking 3 wickets in one over. The game changed in favour of JCC
all of a sudden, and the skipper made sure he kept his foot on the gas all
the way and didn't allow any batsman get away with big shots..
The evening light was reluctant in staying, and eventually the game did end
with full overs bowled and JCC winning by 33 runs. Wrong Uns did try to
chase the target butt never got going and probably left it a bit too late as
the overs dried up.
All in all, a good game and a brilliant start for Junoon CC. Wishing both
teams the best of luck for the rest of the season. Gonna be a good one I
hope!
