Old Fallopians v Masiha
|
| Tuesday 14 May 2013, Victoria Park |
Match abandoned (bad light)
Old Fallopians lost the toss and were put into bat
Old Fallopians: 111 for 3 in 16 overs
Will Hopson-Hill 50*
Mark Scoltock 16
Jimmy 4-0-26-1 Kash 3-0-24-1 Harry 2-0-12-1
Masiha: 57 for 5 in 11 overs
Jimmy 17*
Tim Castle 4-0-10-4 Sam Berkson 3-0-13-1
The only match played at Victoria Park on a relentlessly wet night on the
vast stretches of Pitch 3.
Will Hopson-Hill kicked off the Old Fallopians innings with a 4 driven
through point and continued in that style till he reached an unbeaten 50.
Masiha were otherwise able to keep a lid on the scoring, with Mark Scoltock
the only other batter to reach double figures (16), behind extras on 22.
The Fallopians reached 16 overs only three wickets down on 111 – a target
normally well within Masiha’s reach.
However ... four of Masiha’s openers got themselves bowled by heaving across
a succession of slow but straight deliveries from Tim Castle, with Sam
Berkson’s sharp shooters also taking an early wicket.
A change of the ball – swollen with rainwater – after the third dismissal
(and some discussion) brought Masiha little comfort as the wickets continued
to tumble, but then they settled their innings and by the end of the 11th
over they were on 57 for 5 – on the ropes, though not without hope.
But by this stage the sky was so overcast the batsmen appealed for light and
the match was abandoned.
Points and honours shared, but a frustrating end for both sides, after
enduring the elements for so long with no reward.
